Women Behind the Sound recognizes women and gender-diverse leaders who have made meaningful and sustained contributions to Canada’s music ecosystem.


Nominations are an opportunity to formally acknowledge individuals whose long-term work has strengthened the industry, supported artists, built infrastructure, advanced culture, and shaped music communities behind the scenes.

Who is Eligible?

Nominees must identify as women or gender-diverse and may work in any area connected to the music industry, including artist management, production and technical roles, marketing and publicity, festival and live event leadership, broadcasting and media, label and publishing, cultural strategy and community building, arts administration and funding, education, mentorship, or related fields.

Nominees should demonstrate:

Excellence and sustained contribution

Industry innovation or leadership

Measurable industry or community impact

Commitment to advancing equity

Self-nominations are permitted

Nomination Timeline

Nominations open and close on a rolling or city-specific basis.

Nominations are currently open for the City of Hamilton.

Nominations Close: Sunday, March 15, 2026

Review Period: March 15–20, 2026

Selected honouree(s) will be recognized at the Legacy Lab Industry Event on March 27, 2026.
